Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Control Specialist to oversee our retail inventory system, maintain accuracy, and optimize stock levels. This role will be responsible for ensuring our inventory system functions properly, troubleshooting system-related issues, and collaborating with Finance for reconciliation and reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in retail inventory management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, sales, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records across all sales channels, including POS and Inventory Management Systems.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between system records and actual stock levels.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for inventory control to minimize shrinkage and overstocking.
System Oversight & Troubleshooting
  • Ensure the inventory management system functions correctly and appropriately configures for business needs.
  • Work with internal teams and external vendors to troubleshoot system errors or inconsistencies.
  • Provide training and support to retail staff on proper inventory processes and system usage.
Stock Optimization & Purchasing Support
  • Monitor stock levels and sales trends to make informed recommendations for reordering and replenishment.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure timely and accurate ordering of merchandise.
  • Assist in forecasting demand and aligning stock levels with sales projections.
Reporting & Financial Reconciliation
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure inventory valuation is accurate for financial reporting.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end inventory reconciliations.
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports, including stock movement, shrinkage, and turnover rates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as the key point of contact between Operations, Finance, and Retail teams regarding inventory-related matters.
  • Support merchandising teams with inventory insights to improve product assortment and sales performance.
  • Assist in developing and refining inventory policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 3+ years in inventory management, retail operations, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Shopify POS, YellowDog, Luminous, or other inventory management software preferred.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to maintain high accuracy levels in inventory tracking and reporting.
  • A proactive approach to troubleshooting inventory and system-related issues.
  • Strong communication skills to work across departments, including operations, finance, and purchasing.
Location:
  • This position is based in Downtown Sacramento, CA, and requires a full-time, in-office presence. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
Compensation:

The annual base salary for this position is $52,000 - $62,400. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
