Position Summary:

Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.
Fills in as needed in the department.
Functions as one of the department's primary contacts with patients.
Assists with clerical duties.

Performs phlebotomies.Performs laboratory Information System functions.Maintains a clean work area and proper stock on supplies.Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate polices and procedures.Performs clerical duties.

Reports to: Phlebotomist Supervisor

Minimum Educationx High school diploma or equivalent Preferred x RequiredCompletion of a Phlebotomy course or equivalent training/experience or National Healthcareer Association Phlebotomy certification preferredRequired SkillsCertifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 daysRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
