Job Description Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health NP
Reports to: Director of Behavioral Health & Social Services
Department: Behavioral Health & Social Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Grade: P?
The Psychiatric Mental Health NP as part of the primary care treatment team, identifies, triages, and manages patient care for behavioral health patients within the primary care setting. In addition, the PMHNP will employ patient education strategies to develop specific behavioral change plans for patients and behavioral health protocols for target populations. br>
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- State of RI, RN and PCNS or BHNP Licensure
- ANA Certification
- DEA and RI Controlled Substance Registration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates who do not meet all of the preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Significant Job Functions:
- Triage client phone calls evaluating client's needs/ health care needs
- Assist primary health providers in recognizing and treating mental disorders and psychosocial problems
- Assess the clinical status of patients referred by primary care providers through brief consultative contacts
- Work with primary care provider to refer cases to mental health specialists as appropriate
- assist in the identification of at-risk patients and develop plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration
- Provide health care education and information for client self-care needs
- Coordinate and assess client's health care/ illness needs; scheduling appointment with providers as necessary
- Call in or fax prescriptions as needed
- Maintain standard precautions at all times
- Assess patients for potential communicable diseases and utilize infection control precautions. (li>
- Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens, infectious diseases i.e. respiratory (Tuberculosis), and bio-hazardous materials.
- Manual dexterity for injections, computer use.
