DWU Information Technology Architect

OverviewThe DWU Information Technology Architect plays a critical role in designing and managing systems that monitor and control SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for industrial water and wastewater processes. The SCADA Architect leads the definition and deployment of solution architectures, analyzes alternatives, and establishes standards, ensuring compliance, optimizing cost-of-ownership, and promoting a clear, consistent IT vision within the OT environment.Essential FunctionsArticulates, communicates, and presents scalability, availability, manageability, robustness, and appropriate incorporation of new technology of architecture and design through models, documentation, and reference architectures in a manner that demonstrates business value; uses and employs business/data models, documentation, technology landscape repository, technology reference architectures, and whitepapers.In collaboration with external design consultants, designs and plans the architecture of SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling industrial processes throughout the organization’s facilities.Create a detailed plan for data flow and communication between different devices and systems within the SCADA environment.Oversee the setup and optimization of communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC) to ensure efficient data transmission and interoperability between devices.Design and implement robust security solutions to protect SCADA systems from cyber threats, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, ISA/IEC 62443, NIST 800-82).Work closely with engineering, IT, and operational teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality across the SCADA ecosystem.Keep SCADA systems in compliance with industry standards such as ISA-95, ISA-99, and ISA/IEC 62443 for automation and cybersecurity.Interviews technical and business teams to gather relevant information to facilitate architectural requirements definitions.Assists in the development of the IT Technology plan within the OT environment including the discovery, strategy, design, and engineering of IT/OT technology to provide a secured, robust, reliable, and efficient infrastructure; crafts and creates long term technology investment strategies and roadmaps and discovers new and emerging technologies.Works with the development team to refine the solution architecture and interface with the development team to resolve functional and technical issues as systems are developed.Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.Knowledge And SkillsKnowledge of technology trends in order to support current and future IT/OT enterprise opportunities.Knowledge of current and emerging IT/OT enterprise technologies.Ability to create, document, and communicate architectural designs at an enterprise level.Knowledge of organizational and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of project management activities related to IT/OT solutions and deployment.Ability to make sound decisions and situational analysis.Ability to understand and communicate business needs for changes or enhancements to systems and manage those changes.Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.Knowledge of data center design and management.Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in SCADA network architecture, cybersecurity, and related policies and procedures to incorporate cutting-edge solutions.EducationMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in a Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or Information Technology field.ExperienceSeven (7) years of experience in planning technology architectures in different environments such as: LAN/WAN, virtualization, firewalls, demilitarized zones, network monitoring, client-server, and/or thin client.Equivalency(ies)Master's degree or higher in a specified field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.Other Requirement(s)No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions.No class B misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years.No family violence convictions.Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any felony, class A or class B misdemeanor charge.Salary Range$98,610.66 - $123,263.32The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.City of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Senioriry levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesGovernment AdministrationDallas, TX #J-18808-Ljbffr
