The Department of Ophthalmology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist currently employs 23 faculty in a collaborative and congenial environment. The glaucoma division includes three glaucoma specialists and one faculty member with pediatric and pediatric glaucoma training. We interact with a large number of Wake Forest University medical students both through the general surgery clerkship and the 4-week elective in ophthalmology. Our faculty have ample opportunity to participate in resident and medical student education, and clinical research and industry-funded clinical trials. Our department also has a strong commitment to service. Members of our faculty, residents, and medical students participate in two international trips to Honduras each year, serve uninsured patients in a local free clinic, and conduct annual vision and eye health screening in the community.
