This role is responsible for but not limited to maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment as well as supervising staff.DescriptionPosition Summary:Steinway & Sons is seeking an experienced Manager for our Maintenance Department at our factory location. This role is responsible for but not limited to maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment as well as supervising staff.Main ResponsibilitiesOversee upkeep and maintenance needs of the office and factory spaceOversee the industrial repair and assessment of production equipment, materials, and labor.Create and implement preventative maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment. Designate work assignments to internal maintenance and external contractors and ensure jobs are completed to high standards and that all equipment and tools are well maintained to meet production needs.Proactively seeks out waste of resources and initiates actions to improve methods and reduce costs.Ensures that health and safety policies are complied with, through thorough safety trainings for all employees and conducting site safety assessments to identify all safety hazards.Monitor equipment and parts inventory, working with vendors to manage orders, pricing, and services.Ensures involvement of the Maintenance Department to support ongoing capital projects.Track expenses and oversee the budget for maintenance.Deliver strong operational performance by ensuring compliance with regulatory agency standards and programs (local, city, and state). Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files related to facilities inspections and compliance reporting.Assists in the selection of new hires as well as on going coaching, development, and discipline of current union maintenance staff.RequirementsRequirements, Qualifications, education and experience:At least 5 years of managerial experience in an industrial/manufacturing settingAble to analyze, plan and solve problemsAble to read prints and drawings and have solid math and mechanical aptitudeAble to work with minimal supervision and execute sound independent judgmentAble to communicate effectively with diverse groupsMust have good working knowledge of OSHA regulations and practicesMust have broad experience and familiarity with building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, fire safety)Must have or be able to acquire required certificates of fitness from FDNY to maintain the plantMust be able to maintain all permits to operate equipment and air permits with all government agencies (DEP, DEC, EPA)The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $80,000-$95,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
