Position Overview:

Bread Alone operates 3 cafes in the Hudson Valley: Woodstock, Rhinebeck and Boiceville where we offer our guests delicious bread and pastry, a curated line of beverages including coffee program through Irving Farm, and a full menu prepared in our on-site kitchen. The cafe kitchen staff is at the heart of this and has the most important hands-on role in ensuring that our customers are consistently served great & honest food. Cafe kitchen staff reports to the Kitchen Supervisor and are responsible for executing both daily prep and service on the line. We are always looking to add qualified candidates to our Bread Alone family

Focus of this role will be As a Dishwasher and Prep Cook. You will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in our caf. Your dedication will ensure that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, providing our guests with a delightful dining experience.You will wash and clean tableware, pots, pans, and cooking equipment, and keep all kitchen and dish equipment clean and organized.

Schedule / Shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday/ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. This is a full-time position. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work-life balance.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dish Machine Operation: Load, run, and unload the dish machine, ensuring all items are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Machine Maintenance: Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical issues to a manager immediately. Monitor water temperature to ensure a sanitary wash cycle.
  • Washing and Storing: Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware efficiently.
  • Organization: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of clean dish storage areas, ensuring easy access.
  • Supply Management: Ensure adequate levels of clean tableware are available for both the dining room and kitchen.
  • Trash Disposal: Empty and dispose of trash at designated times.
  • Careful Handling: Handle all tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
  • Cleanliness: Clean food preparation and production areas as required.
  • Team Support: Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.Contributes to elevated customer experience by consistently making quality food.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for quality of products served and always thinks about customer experience.
  • Learns and consistently follows standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations.
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation.
  • Willing to support coworkers and is willing to be a part of the team
Job Requirements:
  • Able to stand for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Able to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to high levels of heat and cold.
  • Able to twist and bend repeatedly for long periods of time.
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work with, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner according to Bread Alone guidelines.
  • Able and willing to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and assigned uniform as required per company policy.
  • Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone.
  • Willing to follow all applicable Good Manufacturing Practices which includes but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from makeup at work (i.e., mascara or heavy foundation, lipstick).
  • Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety as well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management.
  • The retail cafes are open 363 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends - we are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Compensation: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay for this position is $16.00 to $17.00 per hour plus tips.
