With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. In this role, you will enable more mission-critical and diversified workloads on the Google infrastructure. You will be working closely with partners and communities to develop open source ecosystems for hyperscale servers to ensure timely adoption of the best technologies. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Lead a team responsible for delivering system software for servers into Google data centers, with a relentless focus on quality and velocity. Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization’s goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision‑making across teams. Develop the mid‑term technical direction and roadmap within the scope of your team, influencing others and evolving it to meet future requirements. Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems. Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, testing, efficiency). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of software development experience. 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with 2 years of people management or team leadership experience. 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems. Experience with Embedded Systems, Firmware, People Management, Resource Management, Servers, Vendor Management, C, C++, Kernel Programming, Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, PCI Express. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization. Experience with Data Center Architecture, Test Automation, Kernel Drivers, Operating Systems, or x86 architecture.
