Underwriting Specialist OR Executive Underwriter-Management Liability

Zurich Insurance is looking for an Underwriting Specialist OR Executive Underwriter - Management Liability based in San Francisco, California. This market‑facing role focuses on underwriting new and renewal business for Financial Lines products including Directors & Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Crime Insurance. Key Accountabilities Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. Collaborate with Line of Business representatives and business stakeholders to maintain underwriting standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with retail distributors (agents and brokers) to support business retention and acquisition. Identify and pursue renewal and new account opportunities while evaluating growth potential. Support the organization’s sales culture by acting as a help point for agents, brokers, and customers. Qualify accounts to match the organization’s appetite and ensure sound business opportunity. Conduct broker/customer on‑site calls with a well‑planned purpose. Mentor team members. Basic Qualifications – Underwriting Specialist High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥3 years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles. High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥6 years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and ≥1 year of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and ≥4 years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Knowledge of lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business. Experience with Microsoft Office. Basic Qualifications – Executive Underwriter High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥5 years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing roles. High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥10 years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.Experience working in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong relationship‑building skills. Salary Range Underwriting Specialist: $96,600.00 – $158,300.00 (plus up to 10% short‑term incentive). Executive Underwriter: $127,800.00 – $209,300.00 (plus up to 15% short‑term incentive).
