The purpose of this position is to provide guidance and support to production in the area of Manufacturing Engineering and to provide a work environment in which coworkers have the tools, training and leadership to build a quality product. The Engineering goal is to improve profits & cash flow, strive to eliminate waste, provide a stable workflow while meeting program schedules, improving processes, and monitor and ensure that a quality product is produced through teamwork.

Essential Job Functions of Process Engineering Technician

  • Familiarize with, interpret, and understand customer specifications, data, as well as customer piece part drawings
  • Prepare and update written instructions
  • Effectively communicate with customers and KMM personnel
  • Conduct research to improve processes for manufacturing
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with manufacturing process
  • Ensure the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs
  • Work closely with co-workers, including inspectors responsible for quality control and operators manufacturing product
  • Assist with management and updating of Engineering instructions and forms
  • Train/mentor/assist KMM personnel (manufacturing, quality and engineering) on new assembly procedures and documented processes within KMM
  • Problem solve daily issues dealing with product specifications and conformity
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by job task
  • Adhere to all KMM safety policies and practices as well as manufacturer recommendations on operation of all equipment and tools
  • Assist with LEAN manufacturing by becoming a practitioner and assisting with the following:
    • Trained to basic Lean principles and practices
    • Make process improvements at the individual and unit level
    • Apply Lean Problem Solving tools to projects at the individual and unit level
    • Participate as a strong process improvement team member
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required
