Job Title: Construction Planner/Supervisor

Duration: 1 year, potentially longer

Pay Rate: $60 to $65 per hour

Overview: The Construction Planner/Supervisor role entails a 70/30 split between planning and supervisory responsibilities, with a preference for experience in mechanical or PCT (Instrumentation & Electrical) planning.

  • Convert Construction Work Packages (CWP) into Installation Work Packages (IWP).
  • Lead or collaborate with a team to ensure field crews have necessary tools, materials, and specifications.
  • Formulate detailed installation work packages including sequence, manpower, materials, and equipment requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive work packages with scope descriptions, job plans, engineering data, hours estimates, resource lists, safety considerations, and other pertinent details.
  • Participate in Constructability Reviews and contribute to project scheduling in coordination with construction engineers and planners.
  • Manage on-site field construction activities for CAPEX projects valued between $1 million and $8 million.
  • Monitor and control contractor progress, schedule adherence, cost compliance, and quality activities.
  • Uphold safety standards and actively promote a safety culture on the project.
  • Ensure construction quality meets design specifications through inspections and adherence to quality assurance programs.
  • Analyze issues, forecast problems, evaluate options, and recommend/implement appropriate actions.
  • Prepare Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) and coordinate weekly meetings with contractors.
  • Maintain short-range planning, control change/scope creep, and ensure proper documentation and approval of scope changes.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with 11 years of construction experience as a journeyman tradesperson, or Associate degree with 7 years of construction experience, or BS/MS degree in Engineering/Construction Management with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of CAPEX business principles, construction engineering, cost estimating, and management.
  • Basic knowledge of project scheduling and estimating techniques.
  • Experience with different contract models and subcontracts.

Skills/Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of piping design, fabrication, QC, and installation standards.
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel design, fabrication, RBI, and installation standards.
  • Experience in scaffolding and insulation installation.
  • Leadership skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent multitasking and planning skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Spanish language skills desirable.
