About the Job
The Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting will have responsibility for researching and concluding on technical accounting matters and leading the financial reporting process for LS&CO. This individual will consult often with relevant stakeholders, including Global Controller, CFO, external and internal auditors, as well as individuals working in other functional or business areas. The Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting is key in the global Controllership organization and will act as the technical accounting and financial reporting resource to others within the organization.
- Lead the SEC financial reporting process including timely and accurate filing of Forms 10-Q/K, 8-K and other SEC documents.
- Actively research new and existing accounting literature on GAAP and ensure that regions are in compliance with the accounting standards, including preparation of related memoranda ensuring appropriate accounting for actual and proposed transactions.
- Educate the overall Controller's division on recent or changing accounting standards.
- Implement new accounting standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Conclude on technical accounting and financial reporting matters and provide support to external auditors.
- Review ad hoc analysis over technical accounting transactions to identify and recommend changes for potential accounting considerations.
- Assist the Asst. Controller and the Global Controller with analysis on current business issues and their potential impact on our accounting, disclosure and filing requirements.
- Maintain effectiveness of SOX controls over financial reporting and technical accounting processes.
- Manage and develop a team to meet deadlines and support growth.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
- CPA.
- Minimum +8 years’ experience, public accounting experience preferred.
- Proven knowledge of GAAP, particularly accounting and internal control dynamics.
- Experience with being a business partner. Must be able to work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Able to operate at a detailed level without losing sight of the big picture.
- Ability to adhere to critical deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability in problem-solving, directing/leading and motivating others and working in cross-functional teams e.g. projects.
The expected starting salary range for this role is $142,100 to $215,200. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance and business needs.
