The Associate should have experience in buy-side or sell-side equity research and/or an advisory role providing strategic advice to public companies. This role is not sector-specific, and candidates will be expected to operate within a generalist model. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to develop and translate a deep understanding of current issues related to active investment management, and activism into actionable advice for clients.Responsibilities of the Associate include, but are not limited to, the following:Execution of Client EngagementsConduct analyses of fundamentals, investor challenges and investor messaging opportunities and develop creative solutions for clients that address misperceptions and other issues that may adversely impact valuationAssist in drafting a compelling investment thesis and supporting narrative to help clients retain current shareholders and appeal to prospective shareholdersBuild financial models and conduct detailed financial and valuation analysesPerform deep dives and benchmarking on companies and industriesSupport all aspects of day-to-day client engagementsPrepare sophisticated and effective management/investor presentations, press releases, scripts and other deliverables relating to a range of fundamental and governance issuesDemonstrate the capacity to work directly with clients and prospective clients, successfully contributing to both relationshipsSupport Senior Leaders in Business DevelopmentAssist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunitiesPrepare senior leaders for pitch meetings with potential clientsAssist in creation of company-specific pitch materials highlighting the most relevant services for that particular prospectSupport the ongoing development of marketing materialsFirm LeadershipServe as a leader and mentor to Analysts, helping to develop the next generation of AssociatesAssist in identifying and recruiting new team membersQualificationsWe seek to hire individuals who are highly motivated and intelligent. Successful candidates will possess the following:4+ years of work experience in a buy-side or sell-side equity research role and/or an advisory role providing strategic advice to public companiesBachelor's Degree, with a strong academic recordExperience performing in-depth fundamental researchStrong analytical skillsAbility to communicate effectively in presentations and express complex strategies in an organized and articulate mannerAbility to comfortably interact with senior-level executives and clientsEffective time management skills and ability to meet deadlinesCollaborative and team-oriented with sound judgment and strong interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated leadership skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented and proactiveStrong Excel and PowerPoint skillsExpected annualized base salary of $200,000 to $250,000.This range represents the low and high ends of the expected annualized base salary for this position. The specific base salary received by any employee will be informed by a number of factors, including but not limited to, role level and scope, location, candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills and experience.Base salary is one component of PJT Partners’ compensation structure. In addition to base salary, PJT Partners’ compensation structure may include additional rewards, incentives and benefits, including but not limited to, a discretionary bonus component.PJT is an equal opportunity employer.
