HVAC/R Service Technician

Description of Role

To be successful in the HVAC/R Technician’s role, he or she will be required to inspect, diagnose, repair, service, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems in related components. HVAC/R technicians should fully comprehend a wide variety of system types and related components. They should have a thorough knowledge of basic electricity in both low and line voltage applications. They will also be required to proficiently communicate with field service supervisors, dispatchers, account managers, and clients throughout the performance of their work, up to completion of work orders. Delivering an exceptional customer experience in an efficient manner is paramount to sustaining repeat business with clients.


Core Responsibilities

·        Perform Job Hazard Analysis prior to start of work. Safety first

·        Correctly diagnose malfunctions and problems with HVAC/R systems

·        Carry out duties in a quality manner

·        Communicate needed repairs with clients, dispatch, supervision, and account management

·        Develop and execute the right solutions needed to make repairs, adjustments, and equipment replacements

·        Be available for on-call standby for afterhours assignments at scheduled intervals per company policy

·        Troubleshoot HVAC/R systems, Read equipment data sheets & manufacturer’s installation instructions

·        Contact OEM technical support when needed

·        Document work order assignments with before and after pictures

·        Document on work orders company assets used, tools used, consumables, equipment, and materials used

·        Document on work orders how many pounds and of what type of refrigerant used

·        Operate company vehicle safely per company policy. Keep vehicle maintained, cleaned, and organized

·        Reflect positively on the organization

·        Perform preventative maintenance in a thorough manner as to help prevent downtime for client’s equipment

·        Perform equipment startups per the manufacturer’s recommendations and in a productive manner

·        Work collaboratively with project managers general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, co-workers, et al. when required


Qualifications

·        High School diploma or G.E.D.

·        Good written and verbal skills. Good people skills

·        Minimum 5 years of experience working as an HVAC/R technician

·        HVAC or HVAC/R Trade school certificate or diploma is preferred

·        TDLR Registration card

·        Proficient in the use of multi-meters, laptop computers, Specialty OEM plug-in tools, recovery machines, gauges, vacuum pumps, bolometer capture hoods, digital micron gauges, manometers, and other common tools in the industry

·        Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted

·        Must not have any physical work restrictions

·        Technician must possess own gauges, hand tools, multi-meter, etc. Company provides vacuum pumps, recovery machines, and torch rigs
