Job Summary Provides pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding effective medication use, drug interaction awareness, and preventive healthcare. Ensures proper dispensations, reviews and verifies prescriptions within regulatory guidelines and company policies, supports efficient pharmacy workflow, and assists the pharmacy manager with financial, inventory, and customer‑experience optimization. Reviews prescriptions for safety and efficacy, consults with physicians on irregularities, and maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Engage customers and patients, greet them, offer assistance, and resolve issues promptly. Serve as a role model for customer‑service best practices for the team. Build strong relationships with key customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, generics, OTC products, and refer to medical providers as needed. Carry out pharmacist tasks including drug‑therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Ensure pharmacy operation complies with regulations, policies, and standards; assist manager in workflow procedures. Apply Good‑Faith Dispensing policy and controlled‑substance laws when filling prescriptions. Maintain current EPIC knowledge and propose enhancements. Verify insurance claims and follow up with insurers and medical providers to resolve issues. Clarify prescriptions with providers and suggest alternatives when appropriate. Deliver retail, clinical, and wellness services such as diabetes awareness and other preventive care. Develop relationships with local medical community and participate in outreach activities. Assist in staff hiring, training, coaching, and performance monitoring. Promote teamwork, set expectations, recognize progress, and foster a shared vision. Continuously update pharmacy knowledge through journals, publications, and communications. Obtain required certifications, education credits, and Healthstream training. Monitor performance, seek feedback, and use managers as mentors. Provide drug information and education to the public. Interpret provider instructions, fill prescriptions per policy, manage controlled substances, inventory, and financial records. Train and supervise pharmacy interns during their work. Take patient histories, perform initial assessments, and refer patients as needed. Manage medication orders, including age‑specific safety considerations. Participate in pharmacotherapeutic plan processes and clinical committees. Maximize safety and efficiency through automation. Complete assigned goals and contribute to unit/department performance metrics. Specifications Experience Minimum: One year of retail pharmacy experience. Preferred: Advanced post‑graduate training or equivalent clinical experience. Education Minimum: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Special Skills Computer literacy, interpersonal skills, and general clinical awareness. Computer Skills Minimum: Basic computer literacy and communication skills; accuracy and attention to detail. Preferred: Advanced order‑entry literacy, Microsoft Office proficiency, and clinical experience. Licensure Current, active, unrestricted pharmacy licensure for the appropriate state, or eligibility for licensure. Must acquire licensure within 120 days of hire.
