Locations 450 Lakeville Rd, Lake Success, NY, 11042, USMinimum Salary/Range* 63.0000Maximum Salary/Range* 63.0000Shift VariableShift Begin Time 4:30 AMShift End Time 12:30 PM Job Description Performs a variety of technical tasks to prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by a Pathologist to include grossing and frozen sections pursuant to established, approved protocols which require limited independent judgment and review. Job Responsibilities Prepares (grosses) tissue specimens for processing including fixation, dehydration, clearing, and embedding in paraffin wax. Operates tissue processors and embedding centers. Utilizes a microtome to cut thin sections of tissue from paraffin blocks in alignment with quality requirements, and mounts onto slides accordingly. Prepare slides for staining and performs routine staining, both through automation or manual processes. Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed, ensuring traceability and compliance. Adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment. Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on laboratory equipment and reagents. Works on mostly routine and transactional assignments, guided by policies, procedures, guidelines and precedent. Exercises independent judgment on basic or moderately complex issues regarding job and related tasks. May begin to provide work guidance to team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks. Majority of contact is internal and administrative oriented while certain jobs may require transactional interaction with vendors or clinical team. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications Associate's Degree required.
