Assist Ambulance is a New York City EMS agency with a 30‑year history of providing emergency medical services to diverse communities across the five boroughs. We offer Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) through emergency and non‑emergency ambulance transports to hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, doctors’ offices, and community‑based organizations. Job Overview We are looking for certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in New York State to join our Brooklyn base on a full‑time or part‑time basis. Job Requirements Must be at least 18 years old Must possess an active NY State EMT card (NREMT card is not accepted alone) EMTs hired as drivers must be at least 20 years old with at least 1 year of driving experience in New York City Must have a valid New York State D Class driver’s license with no more than 6 points or 2 major moving violations DJ licenses are not accepted Must be physically fit to lift 125 lbs. in accordance with NYS DOH and pass a lifting assessment Must obtain 19A physical clearance and a negative PPD test (vouchers provided) Must pass a 10‑panel drug screening, including THC/cannabis (strict no‑tolerance policy) Must commit to at least two 8‑hour shifts per week on the same days each week (steady shifts) Per diem is not available at this time; only steady scheduling (full‑time or part‑time) Must be personable and able to act responsibly under extreme duress Applicants’ criminal history will be considered in accordance with the New York City Fair Chance Act Must attend three days of in‑person pre‑hire training (November 17‑19) and complete driving assessments on a separate date Job Attributes Weekly payday and a 50¢ raise after 90 days for drivers; 5% standard annual raise for all EMTs Paid training and free uniforms Flexible scheduling Health insurance Union shop—benefits and policies subject to change with new 1199 SEIU contract, pending Paid sick time and PTO up to 56 hours per calendar year 8‑hour pay for full‑time staff on holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, July 4, New Year’s) and 4‑hour pay for part‑time Free Emergency Vehicle Operator certification and 19A DOT medical certification 40‑hour paid vacation after first year; increases at 3, 6, and 10 years of employment CME refresher program/voucher Up to $4,000 reimbursed for paramedic school 1199 Career Pathways Training Program covering tuition, training, books, and administrative fees for nine medical programs Overtime opportunities Large volume of emergency calls Potential to transition to 911 with One Brooklyn Health at Interfaith Medical Center after ~6 months of employment Seniority Level Entry Level Employment Type Part‑time (full‑time available) Job Function Health Care Provider Industries Hospitals and Health Care #J-18808-Ljbffr
