About our Team

As a Software Engineering Manager you will be managing and liaising with dynamic , passionate cross functional teams, where collaboration as a team is key. This team supports a critical suite of Trade Finance applications.


About the Role

As Engineering Manager, you will provide leadership, management, direction, and vision to engineers, offshore contractors, platform suppliers and other specialists. The position is additionally expected to report progress to senior management. Additional responsibilities may include oversight of the department budget, identifying and supporting talent, and defining resource requirements and allocations


Responsibilities

  • Leading and mentoring a team of software engineers and offshore resources to deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning, growth, and collaboration.
  • Leading the development of technical standards and perform reviews to ensure enterprise and architectural standards and processes are followed
  • Collaborating with cross functional stakeholders including product managers, designers and architects to define requirements and design solutions for our product suite
  • Driving the agile development process, establish best practices, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.


Requirements

  • Technically quite solid, that means can even write code if becomes necessary. Writing code is not an every day, every week or every month requirement for this role. But the ability to do such will ensure that the person can think in terms of code, clearly.
  • ‘Solid’ hands on experience ‘and’ knowledge(up to date features) of Java and Spring(including Springboot) fundamentals, can think in terms of code for both, clearly.
  • At least some exposure to customer facing ‘websites’, built on frameworks like Angular(preferred and NOT AngularJS) or React.
  • Implementation experience with Azure for tech stacks mentioned above in 2 & 3. More Azure services experience, the better.
  • Hands on experience with relational and NoSQL databases in cloud, same with messaging technologies in cloud Working in a fast paced Agile(SCRUM) set up, preferably in green field(built things from ground up) development mode, eventually handling BAU. At least 2-3 years of experience managing an Agile engineering team.
  • Knowledge/experience with Python and any experience with Data Engineering, Data Science projects that overlaps with full stack development projects.
  • Possess current experience in Software Engineering (Java Python) and managing a team of technologists.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in project planning and management tools to manage project progress, budget, and scope experience
  • Be experienced in building Cloud native solutions and knowledge in Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Experience in code reviews and development approaches. Proven ability to lead test-driven development and maintenance.
  • Experience in Software development process expert in applicable methodologies (e.g., Agile (Scrum, Kanban)). Expertise in data modelling, design and manipulation, optimization, best practices, tuning, and leading industry trend knowledge. Java Python development experience needed as well as a desire to use those skills.
  • Experience with various resource models such as Managed Services and/or Staff Augmentation
