The Frick Art Reference Library, founded by Mr. Frick's daughter, Helen Clay Frick, in 1920, is an internationally recognized research library that serves as one of the world's most complete resources for the study of Western art. Position Summary Housekeepers at The Frick Collection are responsible for cleaning all offices, restrooms, public areas, galleries, as well as the employee break and dining spaces. Housekeepers assist with set-up/tear down for special events of all kinds: staff events, small luncheons, private corporate events, and fundraising events. Housekeepers are also responsible for maintaining the property surrounding the building by cleaning sidewalks, including gum and snow removal. Housekeepers also work to ready and maintain museum galleries for installation of artwork and for the visiting public. As such, duties include: careful dusting and cleaning of historic surfaces and finishes, including, but not limited to marble, limestone, carved wood, decorative painted walls, ornate ironwork, display cases. Cleaning of interior and exterior windows, requiring opening of windows with 100+-year-old hardware and cleaning walls and ceilings. Two years professional cleaning experience. Must be able to use all cleaning equipment: vacuums, mops, brooms. Hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek are paid at time-and-one-half for nonexempt Housekeeping positions. The base annual salary for this position is $47,008.00; the hourly rate is $22.60; a 10% differential is applied to the hourly rate for hours worked on evening and overnight shifts, bringing the total hourly rate for evening/overnight shifts to $24.86. It is anticipated that this salary will increase beginning July 1, 2024. Since the Housekeeping role, and that of others in Operations, are relied upon to support readying the galleries for art installation, opening for the public, and special events, work shifts may be scheduled outside of normal business hours and on weekends.
