Staff Scientist - Biologics MRIGlobal is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Integrated Pharmaceutical Solutions Business Unit as a Staff Scientist specializing in biologics development and analysis. This position is on-site at our headquarters in Kansas City, MO. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team supporting drug substance (DS) and drug product (DP) development for biologics, including vaccines, mAbs, gene therapies, and other advanced modalities. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in analytical characterization, method development, molecular biology, and technical leadership within the biopharmaceutical industry. Principal Accountabilities and Success Factors The Staff Scientist will play a key role in leading analytical activities to support the development, manufacturing, and release of biologics. The role requires strong technical expertise, project leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Successful candidates will demonstrate scientific rigor, adaptability, and the ability to contribute to technical strategy. Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Lead the development, qualification, and execution of analytical methods for biologics, including proteins, plasmid DNA, viral vectors, and cell therapies. Perform technical reviews of analytical data, reports, and regulatory documents (e.g., IND sections, specifications). Author and contribute to technical reports, protocols, regulatory submissions, and peer‑reviewed publications with clear results and well‑supported conclusions. Serve as subject matter expert (SME) in analytical method development and biologics characterization. Interact directly with clients to provide project updates, discuss data, and offer technical recommendations. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, FDA, EMA) and MRIGlobal's Quality Management System. Minimum Qualifications B.S. in Chemistry or Biology, or related field with at minimum of 6 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with a minimum of 3 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience; or a Ph.D. with 0-3 years of experience. Demonstrated experience in analytical method development and characterization of biologics (e.g., ELISA, PCR, HPLC, CE, mass spectrometry). Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in common software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and scientific data analysis software). Preferred Qualifications Expertise in critical quality attributes (CQA) determination for biologics, including identity, purity, potency, and safety testing. Familiarity with ICH Q2(R2) guidelines for method validation and qualification. Hands‑on experience with advanced analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry (MS), qPCR, ELISA, cell‑based assays, and next‑generation sequencing (NGS) for gene therapy products. Hands‑on experience with lab‑scale protein expression and cell culture. Experience managing client relationships and working in a contract research organization (CRO) or CDMO environment. Prior experience with technology transfer from R&D to GMP manufacturing. Salary Range $82,300 - $88,000 The salary range is intended as a general guideline and is not a guaranteed offer, as compensation depends on various factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.
