This position will provide legal counsel on contract, litigation, and regulatory matters as well as advise on the legal impact of compliance risks. This position will serve as a legal subject matter expert in the area of consumer and automotive finance regulation, and work closely with the company’s business units in a cross-functional capacity to minimize risk, ensure best practices, and support business growth.How will you drive value within the organization as a Director, Assistant General Counsel?Provide comprehensive legal advice to the business on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk managementDraft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements to ensure they align with the company's interests and comply with relevant laws; Manage and oversee legal review of all contracts with third party vendors; maintain records related to contracts; implement staffing and procedural strategies to streamline efficiency of contract reviewsManage the company’s Regulatory Change Management (“RCM”) function by developing and managing processes to monitor updates to all applicable required statutes, rules, and regulations; identify potential legal risks, advise on mitigation strategies, and provide oversight of implementation process; manage, support, track, and report on operational changes and controls implemented by Compliance to ensure enterprise-wide alignment and visibility to responses to regulatory changesOversee the management of all litigation, working with external counsel as needed, to provide litigation strategies and review all pleadings, settlement agreements, and invoicesDevelop and implement corporate policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory complianceExercise management authority concerning budgeting, staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminationsSet departmental goals and develop and maintain a daily employee work schedule that effectively meets the needs of the businessBuild collaborative relationships with stakeholders such as executive leadership, compliance, operational leaders, and external parties to provide legal guidance to help support business decisionsManage the company’s corporate insurance policy renewals, including negotiation and compliance with relevant timelinesCoordinate employee training initiatives related to consumer protection regulations in support of the enterprise Compliance Management System; conduct training sessions for employees on legal and compliance matters to promote adherence to company policiesPerform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by managementWhat should you already know to be successful as a Director, Assistant General Counsel?Minimum of bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor requiredMinimum five (5) years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department requiredMust be licensed to practice law and in active, good standing in any state within the United StatesIntrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectivenessExcellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the businessStrong verbal and written communication skillsTeam player that can adapt in a fast paced and changing environmentProficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as requiredCommitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competenciesFoster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of managementEmployment Requirements:This position is full-timeWhile performing the essential duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:Remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the workdayConstantly operate a computer and other standard office equipmentTalk and hear to exchange accurate informationHave close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading2023 California Applicant Privacy NoticeGLS participates in theE-Verifyprogram to confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employeesPlease visitwww.glsauto.comfor information about our great company and other amazing opportunitiesApplicants have rights under Federal Employment LawsFamily and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) #J-18808-Ljbffr
