With a salary starting at $95.00, Rx relief is looking for the right person to fill a Specialty Pharmacist position right now.
The Specialty Pharmacist will collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and optimize patient medication therapy and deliver effective pharmacotherapy consultations. You will serve as an active participant in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other oncology related multidisciplinary teams, including formulary medication reviews and/or policy and procedure revisions. As part of these teams, you will work to enhance the quality of medication use by optimizing drug selection, ensuring safe medication use and reduced drug expenditures.

Specialty Pharmacist
Job Specifics and Requirements:
Area: Central Valley, CA
Licensure Requirements: Must have open, active, and in good standing CA State Pharmacist License
Education: Pharm.D. or B.S.
Years of Experience: 2+ years in an oncology setting
Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Length of Assignment: Temporary to Permanent
Pay: $95.00+ DOE
Background/ Drug Requirements: Must be willing to submit to a background check, health and drug screen.
Specialty Pharmacist
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for oncology patients, you must work independently and effectively to ensure appropriate and accurate drug reviews.
- Clinical focus will be in hematology/oncology working closely with the physician team in monitoring patients on chemotherapy.
- Interpret prescriptions and/or physician orders for accuracy, eligibility, availability, cost effectiveness and therapeutic appropriateness.
- Review patient medication profiles, contact physicians and make authorized changes to orders or prescriptions, as required.
- Provide drug information on medication use, dosage, side effects and composition to physicians, nurses and patients/families.
- Partner with other healthcare professionals to develop evidence-based clinical pathways and/or treatment protocols.
- Conduct utilization reviews and identify opportunities to optimize medication use for adult and pediatric oncology patients.
- Generate and analyze process and outcome measures for use in assessing oncology-related patient outcomes; report impact of quality programs.
- In conjunction with the Investigational Drug Trials Coordinator, assist in the coordination of oncology investigational drug services.
- Communicate directly with patients and their families on all aspects related to chemotherapy therapy, promoting high levels of knowledge, engagement, and adherence.
- Supervise and mentor other pharmacy team members, and other healthcare professionals to enhance clinical competency on topics related to chemotherapy.
- Demonstrate knowledge of oncology protocols, sterile compounding, USP 797/800 workflows and Pharmacy State Law. Responsible for verifying orders per protocols.
- Independently design, secure funding for and conduct clinical research within the scope of oncology practice.
