Job Summary:

The Mobile Unit Driver is responsible for safely operating the mobile medical/dental clinic vehicle, ensuring timely arrival and setup at community events. During the events, the driver will assist the clinical staff with registering patients and provide general outreach information with community members about the available services and support at Third Street Family Health Services.

Essential Job Duties:

Vehicle Operation and Safety:

Safely drive the mobile medical unit to various locations, including community events, health fairs, and other designated sites.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.

Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, maintaining a clean driving record.

Ensure the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times. Report any concerns to facilities immediately.

Maintain accurate logs of vehicle maintenance, mileage, and fuel usage.

Ensure the mobile unit complies with all health and safety regulations.

Event Coordination and Setup:

Collaborate with event organizers and medical staff to determine optimal parking and setup locations.

Assist in the setup and breakdown of the mobile clinic at each location.

Ensure all medical equipment and supplies are securely stored and properly organized.

Customer Service and Communication:

Serve as a liaison between the community and clinical staff, providing courteous and informative assistance to event attendees.

Communicate effectively with the clinical team to ensure smooth operation during events.

Handle any issues or emergencies that arise with professionalism and efficiency.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of trip details, including destinations, travel times, and any incidents or irregularities.

Report any vehicle issues, accidents, or incidents to the supervisor immediately.

Assist in collecting and reporting data related to community outreach efforts.

Be a positive role model to other staff.

Other duties as assigned.

None.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.

Excellent driving skills with the ability to navigate various road conditions.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Problem-solving skills and ability to handle emergencies calmly.

Basic understanding of medical terminology and equipment is a plus.

Ability to work with a group population and provide information and support in a non-judgmental manner.

Personal Contacts:

Frequent contact with staff of community agencies and the general public. Daily contact with agency staff. Must develop and maintain positive relationships with all of the above.

Environmental & Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Capable of prolonged periods of driving and standing.

Comfortable working in various weather conditions.

Frequent travel to different community locations.

Variable work hours, including evenings and weekends.

Interaction with diverse populations and community groups.Mobility: must be able to move independently and safely throughout the workplace, including offices, counseling rooms, and common areas.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid commercial driver's license (CDL), preferred.

Ability to be insured on commercial automobile policy

Previous experience driving large vehicles or RVs, preferably in a medical or outreach setting.

Salary Description

$19/hour
