As a Chef de Cuisine, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and taste. You will lead a team of talented chefs and kitchen staff, inspiring creativity, maintaining consistency, and fostering a collaborative environment. This role requires a passion for culinary excellence, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering memorable dining experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute innovative and seasonal menus that showcase fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and assistants, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and cost control measures to optimize profitability while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance culinary offerings and guest satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work culture, promoting teamwork, communication, and professional development among kitchen staff.
  • Ensuring that all food meets the highest quality standards and is served on time.
  • Planning the menu and designing the plating presentation for each dish.
  • Coordinating kitchen staff and assisting them as required.
  • Hiring and training staff to prepare and cook all the menu items.
  • Stocktaking ingredients and equipment, and placing orders as needed.
  • Enforcing best practices for safety and sanitation in the kitchen.
  • Creating new recipes to regularly update the menu.
  • Keeping track of new trends in the industry.
  • Incorporating feedback from restaurant staff and patrons to make improvements or resolve issues.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine or Executive Chef in a high-volume, upscale dining establishment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institute.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles, with a focus on contemporary and innovative cuisine.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for food and a dedication to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Qualification from a culinary school.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • In-depth knowledge of food principles and best practices.
  • Passion for creating incredible food that delights and attracts customers.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
  • Creative, innovative thinking.
  • Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety.
  • Experience managing inventories and stocktaking.
  • Available to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on holidays.
