Responsibilities Associate Directors of Admission read and evaluate applications for admission; serve as voting members of the Board of Admission; develop regional recruitment strategies; represent the university nationally and internationally at high schools and community based organizations, admission workshops, college fairs, and Introduction to Brown and Brown Near You events, virtually and in-person. Associate Directors lead specialized admission programs and functions as assigned and contribute to the development of admission policies and strategies. Some responsibilities include but are not limited to: Recruiting applicants to Brown University; leading presentations to inform applicants, counselors and families about unique opportunities at Brown. Counsel students and families through the admission and financial aid process. Develop relationships with counselors in schools and Community Based Organizations. Admission Officer On-Call Duties. Read and evaluate applications and recommend admission decisions to the Board of Admission Evaluation and selection of applicants. Plan and implement any number of admission processes and projects and implement strategy in special areas of expertise. Demonstrated success in autonomous work, with increasing level of ownership of projects. This should include creating timelines, coordinating with communications and technical teams, sharing project updates office wide, anticipating problems and implementing solutions, analyzing data and writing annual summary reports of projects; mentoring and assisting in training and development of new and current staff. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree Eight years of experience in education/higher education fields, with 6 years of college admission experience at a highly selective institution Job Competencies Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing, active listening and public speaking skills Willingness to guide and mentor colleagues Sensitivity to concerns of people of different ages and backgrounds Willingness and ability to work both independently and with groups Creativity, efficiency, flexibility, open-mindedness, good judgment Ability to work long hours, including evenings and some weekends Ability to travel Attention to detail and strong organizational skills First-hand knowledge of major issues facing American colleges and universities Driver's license Understanding of Brown and its academic standards Capacity to relate easily and appropriately with a broad range of people Understanding of public relations and social media Salary Grade 11 Additional Information All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
