Reference #: 4540419 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is seeking a hard working Highway Foreman 2 to supervise the work of a general highway maintenance crew performing manual labor and operating heavy equipment to perform standard or routine maintenance and repair operations on or around assigned highways. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will plan, schedule, and provide direct supervision to a crew of equipment operators and laborers using a variety of heavy construction equipment and hand tools to perform a full range of general highway maintenance activities. This includes patching, crack sealing, shoulder stabilization and repair, installation and cleaning of drainage pipe, guide rail installation, roadway sweeping, litter pickup, filling potholes, roadway widening, and coordinating emergency responses to snow and ice, storm damage, or vehicle accidents.

Additionally, you will investigate highway-related complaints and respond promptly and appropriately, and review and keep road log records of conditions within assigned area to recommend and assist in effective priority planning of work operations and estimates. Evaluating the skill level of the subordinate staff and making recommendations on required training and opportunities for overall performance improvement is also part of your responsibilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1; or Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
