Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere. We are searching for a Medical Coding Specialist to join our agency. This position can be fully remote. Responsibilities Oversees daily coding for Center Health Care services as assigned. Serves as internal resource on CPT, ICD-10, APG and HCPCS coding. Responsible for overseeing status of electronic bills as assigned by Director. Review providers visit notes in patient’s record to determine if the providers recommended diagnosis code, in their orders, is supported by the documentation. If Coding Specialist determines that the documentation does not support the diagnosis recommended, the Coding Specialist will review all documentation in respect to that visit with the provider in effort to ensure accuracy of coding. In the event the Coding Specialist and the Provider do not agree on a resolution, the Coding Specialist will elevate the issue to the Chief Medical Officer. These reviews will be documented and tracked. Performs audits of patient charts to ensure accuracy of coding and documentation of services for billing and report findings to determine follow up steps. Develops training materials and provide training as needed to providers/clinicians to ensure accurate documentation and appropriate use of codes and modifiers for billing accuracy and to maximize revenue. Reviews all billing status online reports and follows-up with the providers to ensure accurate and timely corrections are made. Analyze coding scenarios to ensure maximum reimbursement of services. Assists with the implementation of all new billing software as it relates to coding and billing. Reviews and updates coding processes and procedures. Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1 year experience working in a medical office setting preferred Knowledge of ICD-10 required Medical Coding Certification preferred Analytical thinking and attention to detail make for a great Coding Specialist Medical billing knowledge a plus At The Center for Disability Services, we don’t just accept difference – we celebrate it, support it, and thrive on it for the benefit of our employees and the people we support.
