The Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Licensed Practical Nurse Specialist for the Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology will be responsible for assisting in the direct care of bleeding & clotting disorder patients throughout the state and region. The LCBCD Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the delivery and management of patient care and oversight, utilizing the nursing process, the healthcare environment and current technology to provide a climate which optimizes patient care and staff development. The LCBCD Licensed Practical Nurse will perform a variety of direct patient care activities and assist with procedures to an appropriate level of training and established protocols. Duties will include completing clinical assessments, delivery of prescribed therapies, prior authorizations, visits to inpatients, discharge planning, professional phone triage. Other duties will include documenting all interactions in the patient’s appropriate electronic medical record, performing clerical functions to support the practice as instructed, and maintaining the physical environment of exam and procedure rooms, and scheduling tests, labs, and sending prescriptions as per provider orders. The LCBCD Licensed Practical Nurse will also serve as an active contributing member of the Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders (HTC). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum one (1) year experience in an outpatient clinical setting. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage multi-responsibilities in outpatient / inpatient settings. Knowledge of computer programs for clinical data entry. Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed. Available for on-call duty. Ability to travel to outreach clinics, trainings, patient camps, retreats, and educational programs. Self-motivated individual with good organizational and communications skills. Ability to work with diverse population. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed. Required Education and/or Experience Licensed Practical Nurse with current Louisiana licensure by date of hire. Five (5) years clinical nursing experience in either ambulatory nursing care, med-surgery, and/or pediatrics, including venipuncture experience. Preferred Qualifications N/A Compensation Information This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 26.
