Basic Purpose:

This position is accountable for producing technical drawings, including comprehensive part breakdowns, flat patterns, component identification layouts, flow diagrams, structural inspection drawings, safety drawings, assembly cross section drawings, lubrication specific drawings and 3D model assembles that are used in the manufacturing process of industrial generators. This position also prepares promotional materials in compliance with prescribed specifications and standards for use by the Sales Representatives in promoting and selling the company's product.

Nature and Scope:

The incumbent in this position serves as liaison between the Engineering and Sales Department in preparing drawings of parts and assemblies for use in the production of industrial generators and for use by the Sales Department in promoting the company's product. This employee works under the direction of the technical publications coordinator. This position coordinates with the sales manager when developing and preparing promotional materials and with the technical publications coordinator and general manager when preparing parts drawings and assemblies, indicating dimensions, tolerances, fasteners, joining requirements and including any information or instruction that will assist in the manufacturing and assembly of Taylor Power Systems' equipment. Projects may range from 30 minute modifications to three-month projects, which involve the breaking down of an assembly to an unlimited number of separate multiple-view drawings and/or creating new promotional materials.

The incumbent receives layouts with instructions from the General Manager of Operations and must refine this using computer-aided drafting software (CAD), company engineering specifications and standards and refers to vendor catalogs and other drafting reference books for additional information. The incumbent conducts research to support his/her effort including developing comprehensive part breakdowns, operator instructions, and promotional material.

This incumbent assigns parts numbers when new parts are required and researches records to prevent duplication of numbers or prints. The incumbent may be required to view actual operation application of the parts involved to clarify previously prepared drawing. All drawings are checked by the Technical Publications Coordinator before release for dimensions, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure.

Other responsibilities include maintaining a Taylor manual library of all new and old Taylor manuals, enhancing and manipulating digital photographs required for production of operation and maintenance manuals, specification data sheets, submittal data packages and promotional materials.

This position also assists the Sales and Public Relations personnel in organizing and planning trade and exhibit shows.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Generate and maintain 2D and 3D drawings for standard and customer products using AutoCad software under the direction of the engineering department.
  • Provide drawing support for the Sales, Service and Technical Departments.
  • Coordinate design efforts with the engineering group, manufacturing personnel and technical support personnel.
  • Process drawing revisions and engineering changes.
  • Be directly involved in the manufacturing and testing of prototype units.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements:

  • AA Degree in Drafting preferred.
  • One to Two years drafting experience preferred.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCad software or similar programs.
  • Experience with metal fabrication preferred.
