Ball Memorial's Cardiac Progressive Care an 18-bed unit that specializes in cardiac patient population; pre & post CV surgery patients; On the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, we use a multidisciplinary team approach consisting of nurses, physicians, patient care assistants, case managers, and secretarial support staff. We pride ourselves on our strong partnership and high-quality care we deliver to our patients.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

* Care of chest tubes and art lines.
* Surgical site care (sutures, staples, dressing changes)
* Trach care

Unit Successes/Designations:

* We have a UBC that meets monthly to discuss unit needs, concerns, and areas of opportunity.
* Our highest scoring areas in our Team Member Engagement Survey were "I know what is expected of me at work" and "I have a best friend at work."
* Unit Culture:

* cardiac dynamics, critical care basics, sheath class)

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
* Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
* Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
