Senior Inventory Accountant (Inventory & Fixed Assets) – Hybrid in Piscataway, NJ Ensemble Performing Arts, a high‑growth consolidator of performing‑arts businesses, is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate accounting for the company’s musical instrument inventory, fixed assets, and rental fleet. This full‑time, hybrid (40 hrs per week) position supports sales, operations, and warehouse teams. Key Responsibilities Inventory & Rental Asset Accounting Oversee the accounting lifecycle of all rental instruments and equipment (capitalization, depreciation, disposals). Maintain the rental inventory subledger and reconcile monthly physical counts. Monitor inventory in circulation, repair, and storage and coordinate with operations on condition and replacement schedules. Ensure revenue recognition and COGS alignment for rental programs. Support pricing analysis and utilization studies to guide purchasing decisions. Fixed Asset Management Maintain the fixed asset register for facilities, technology, and warehouse equipment. Record acquisitions, transfers, disposals and calculate monthly depreciation. Review for impairments, retirements, and coordinate annual inventory audits. Financial Reporting & Month‑End Close Prepare and post journal entries for inventory adjustments, depreciation, and asset disposals. Perform monthly reconciliations and provide supporting schedules for close. Assist in audit preparation and provide documentation to auditors. Cross‑Functional Support Partner with School Services, Customer Accounts, Repair & Maintenance, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure accurate records. Recommend process improvements for inventory control, depreciation methods, and automation. About You Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5‑8 years of accounting experience, with 3+ years managing inventory and fixed assets. Experience in a retail or rental‑based business strongly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory valuation, and depreciation principles. Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks). Advanced Excel skills. Detail‑oriented, analytical, and proactive in process improvement. Excellent communication skills and collaboration across departments. Track record of accurate asset and depreciation tracking and audit readiness. Salary: $85,000–$90,000/year.
