Employment Type: Part timeShift: Rotating ShiftJob Title: Surgical Tech – Labor & Delivery, St. Peter's Hospital Overview St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY invites a skilled Operating Room Technician to support our delivery team during 12‑hour per diem shifts. The candidate will serve as a first scrub at the surgical table for select procedures and contribute to maintaining a sterile operating room environment. Benefits Competitive shift differentials Tuition assistance Supportive work environment and comprehensive orientation Responsibilities Act as first scrub and assist the surgical team during procedures Create and maintain a sterile field and prepare operating rooms Monitor technique and function, including scrub/gown technique and clean sterile field Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening and maintain sterility of instruments and supplies Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts following established policies and procedures Position and transport patients as needed Minimum Requirements Successfully completed a nationally accredited surgical technologist program and holds a certified surgical technologist credential, or NY S LPN license, or Completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the U.S. Armed Forces, or Evidence of one year cumulative employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility within the four years immediately prior to January 1 2015 (or acceptable alternate experience within two years of employment) Must possess adequate hearing, vision, and hand dexterity for instrument manipulation across multiple surgical specialties Preferred Requirements 1+ year of experience as a surgical tech in an operating room setting Strong dexterity and stamina for long cases Prioritize and multitask efficiently in a fast‑paced environment Team‑oriented communication and critical thinking skills Passion to learn, grow, and develop in the surgical field Pay Range $25.00 – $31.45 per hour (based on experience, skills, and education). Pay is within the stated hourly rates for exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The range may vary with location.
