This role will be located in Melbourne, FL .In this role, you will be responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining aircraft Crew & Equipment design configurations using current engineering practices and standards.Responsibilities and duties:Crew Systems/Cockpit design and and/or Equipment Integration associated with one or more of the following areas:Escape SystemsTransparencies and CanopiesCockpit Furnishings, Interiors, and LightingPilot Controls and DisplaysOperator workstations, consoles, displays, and equipment racksAircraft Secondary StructureOverall cockpit and workstation layouts, including integration of human factor aspectsDevelop mockups, and simulatorsPerform trade studies, determine results and conclusions, and make recommendationsIdentify and Manage Risks, Issues and OpportunitiesPerform design related tasks utilizing the NX and Teamcenter tool suite, including integrating components into various types of aircraft applications, coordinating and collaborating with relevant stakeholder to ensure robust and maintainable configurations are produced, and applying GD&T requirements to models to ensure producibility and manufacturability of designs.The successful candidate will be a self-starter, well-organized with good problem-solving skills, able to perform effectively despite concurrent work tasks and will possess strong communication, leadership, team coordination and mentoring skills. The successful candidate will also thrive in an aircraft development design environment and be able to react and quickly adapt to changes in aircraft configuration.This role may be filled as a Principal Crew & Equipment Design Engineer or Sr. Principal Crew & Equipment Design Engineer based on the qualifications outlined below.Basic Qualifications:Principal Crew & Equipment Design Engineer : Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 3 years of engineering experienceSr. Principal Crew & Equipment Design Engineer : Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 6 years of engineering experience or PhD and 4 years of engineering experiencePrior experience with aircraft crew/cockpit design, interiors, or mission equipment/hardware integrationPrior experience with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software applicationsYour ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the companyPreferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related disciplineFamiliarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLMFamiliarity with NX Human ModelingCockpit flight controls, crew accommodations, mission systems and subsystems interfacesFamiliarity with JPATS 1-8 aircrew anthropometric sizesFamiliarity with aircraft rack design, shock isolation, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment integration, and mission line replaceable unit (LRU) mounting/integrationFamiliarity with implementing design/integration considerations associated with size, weight, power, and cooling requirements for aircraft equipmentExperience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test proceduresLeading and mentoringSalary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
