Position Summary The Senior Cost Accountant plays a key role in managing cost planning, budget performance, variance analysis, and inventory control in a manufacturing environment. This position ensures accurate cost accounting, supports operational efficiency, and provides financial insights that drive profitability. Collaborating across operations, supply chain, procurement, and finance, the Senior Cost Accountant identifies cost drivers, optimizes resource utilization, and supports data‑driven decision‑making. Budgeting & Cost Planning Develop, manage, and monitor manufacturing cost budgets. Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and overhead allocations. Forecast production costs and adjust budgets in response to fluctuations in demand, pricing, or resources. Cost Control & Performance Monitoring Track and analyze actual production costs versus standards and budgets. Investigate and explain variances in material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption. Recommend corrective actions and collaborate with operations to improve cost efficiency. Inventory & Materials Management Oversee accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories. Monitor inventory turnover, obsolescence, and scrap; propose measures to minimize waste and carrying costs. Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate supplier pricing, lead times, and cost impact. Implement and maintain effective inventory costing methods (standard, FIFO, LIFO, weighted average). Establish and maintain standardized procedures for cycle counting and reconciliation. Prepare and present reports on production costs, inventory levels, and cost variances. Deliver insights on cost trends and operational efficiency to support business decisions. Contribute to capital project evaluations through cost‑benefit and ROI analyses. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with procurement on cost‑effective sourcing strategies. Coordinate with supply chain to align production schedules and inventory goals. Provide cost data and analysis to support operations, engineering, and leadership. Maintain accurate and compliant cost records aligned with GAAP/IFRS standards. Identify and assess risks related to inventory, supply chain disruptions, and production costs. Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field; CMA, CPA, or CIMA preferred. 5+ years of cost accounting experience; manufacturing cost accounting experience is required. In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory control, and production processes. Proficiency with ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred. Advanced Excel and financial modeling capability. Strong analytical, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Up to 5% domestic travel required.
