NIA is known for "deep dives" on important topics and for providing robust and complete information to policymakers.Position Description OverviewReporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for executing and/or assisting with NIA research projects and events, as well as engagement with policymakers, stakeholders, and media. This role is full-time, benefit eligible.Possible Project Areas IncludeU.S. NRC safety licensing for nuclear reactors and fuel cycle facilitiesU.S. NRC ADVANCE Act implementationU.S. NRC Environmental ReviewsNew nuclear energy's role in energy security and decarbonizationDevelopment and deployment of new nuclear energy and reactor technologyState-level siting and regulation of new nuclear reactorsPresenting and mentoring at the Nuclear Innovation BootcampResponsibilitiesResearch, writing, external engagement, and project managementFocusing on new nuclear energy regulation - conduct research, develop policy recommendations, and present your findings to policymakersServe as an expert on new nuclear energy policy, regulatory, and technical issuesAssist with stakeholder engagement, including interactions with new nuclear companies, industry organizations, NGOs, government officials, donors, and utilitiesRepresent NIA at meetings, hearings, and eventsAssist in strategic planning, grant proposals, and grant reportingOther tasks as assignedQualificationsMS/MA in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, energy policy, or related field requiredExperience with nuclear energy licensing, either at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or the nuclear industryExperience with and knowledge of new nuclear energy technology and policyPossess excellent research, analysis, and communication skillsInterest in and enthusiasm for new nuclear power as a solution for energy security and climate mitigationPossess strong organizational skills and attention to detailBe considerate and respectful of others, consistent with a positive work environmentExperience with fundraising and grant management is highly desiredApplicant RequirementsA cover letter is required when submitting your application.
