Hemodialysis Registered Nurse/Educator for Hemodialysis

Primary Shift: 6:00a-4:30p (On Call 5:30a-4:00p)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The hemodialysis RN/Educator will be able to initiate, monitor, discontinue, tear down and clean equipment used for dialysis. The hemodialysis RN/Educator assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates treatment prescriptions. The hemodialysis RN recognizes emergent situations and appropriately intervenes. They collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams. The hemodialysis RN/Educator facilitates professional development of nursing staff and provides an overall direction for educational activities for staff and Renal patients. This employee is also responsible for working collaboratively across the organization with leadership and staff to ensure overall orientation, education and training for staff development and care delivery both in the classroom and at the bedside.
The RN/Educator position will split a full-time hour commitment 80/20, between Renal RN responsibilities and Renal education RN responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
2. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
3. BSN required. MSN preferred.
4. Three (3) years experience in a clinical setting required. Experience in Renal Care required.
5. Certification in specialty preferred.
6. Previous educational/teaching experience preferred.
7. Minimum one year as Registered Nurse required.
8. Previous hemodialysis experience preferred.
9. Previous critical care experience preferred.
10. Requires excellent customer service skills.
11. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.
12. Sucessful completion of the orientation program.
13. Completion of CVPH Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition Class within one year.
14. Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of patients for which care is being provided.
