We continually strive to create an environment of trust and transparency by helping employees find a sense of purpose in their job and achieve their highest potential while providing hospitality to those who work and live at South Port Square. #clinical ABOUT THE ROLE: Monitors and manages the quality measures and indicators of the community through planning, developing, directing and evaluating educational and clinical training programs. Evaluates and develops policies for the community's risk management systems in accordance with regulations to protect residents, staff and facility from loss and is responsible for the development and implementation of the orientation program and on-going educational programs for all staff at the Community. The Quality Improvement and Staff Development Manager provides specific orientation for Health Center nursing staff. Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of the Quality Improvement and Staff Development Manager: * Monitors residents within state licensure regulations; may supervise and direct resident assistants where allowed by state licensure regulations. Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment in the best interest of residents. * Documents and reviews medication and treatment sheets for accuracy and compliance with physician orders, professional standards, federal and state regulations and company policies. Monitors responses to treatment plans. Possesses knowledge of medication interaction and notifies Director of any occurrences. * Plans and organizes quality control programs and activities. Maintains library of quality control and assessment materials necessary for complying with current standards and regulations and maintaining quality resident care. * Oversees the Infection Control Program of the facility and devises infection control reports for submission to Director of Clinical Services and Quality Assurance Committee. Ensures adherence to OSHA guidelines and infection control standards. * Directs and coordinates all in-service educational programs of the facility in accordance with regulations. Develops, maintains and directs orientation programs for skilled nursing personnel. Maintains secure records, reports and instructional manuals pertinent to in-service programs. * Plans, implements, evaluates, and directs the facility's risk management programs and activities. Investigates all allegations of misconduct; notifies appropriate personnel and reports findings to the Administrator. * Assists in developing and implementing plans of correction for cited deficiencies. Ensure such plans incorporate timetable and methods of monitoring to prevent such deficiencies from reoccurring. * Secures and corrects reconciliation of controlled substances. Ensures cleanliness and organization of medicine supply room and security of discontinued medicine in accordance with federal and state regulations and company policy. * Assists with discharge process relevant to medication/treatment orders. * Gathers and analyzes resident outcomes through tracking and trending to identify root cause and determines appropriate interventions. * Provides recommendations and reports to management, as necessary/required, concerning quality control programs and processes. Makes recommendations to facility management to reduce the frequency and severity of medical malpractice and resident/staff injury claims. Reports all accidents and incidents to appropriate agencies and facility management within established time frames. * Plans, conducts and evaluates organized orientation and training programs for all newly hired employees which are scheduled on a regular basis. * Plans the annual and monthly training program calendar in collaboration with other facility management team members. * Plans and coordinates management training programs with guidance from the Director of Human Resources. * Recruit instructors with expertise in the appropriate discipline to improve and develop the skills of employees. Utilizes community resources for training programs. * Assists in the planning and coordination of training programs for all departments within the facility to respond to identified problem areas, service quality or to teach new procedures or methods. * Maintains appropriate training records and program materials as required by federal and state regulations. * Provide specific orientation to Health Center nursing staff including completion of the clinical skills checklist. * Monitors outcome of employee training sessions with regard to skills taught and session evaluations. * Develops, maintains and upgrades the standards for policies and procedures for the Training and Development Department. * Participates in the budget for Training and Development. Submits monthly variance reports to the Business Office. * Serves on the Quality Assurance Committee, CQI Committee, Safety Committee and Infection Control Committee and other committees as assigned. * Coordinates the activities of students engaged in learning programs within the facility from various learning institutions. * Schedules employee annual physicals and Tuberculosis screening and maintains records of same. * Monitors/coordinates flu vaccination program for entire facility. * Conducts Infection Control studies and reports for quarterly QA. * Verifies licensure of licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants upon hire and ensures that these licenses are current during employment in the facility. * Assumes a proactive role in resolving resident issues & concerns related to assigned areas of responsibility. * During emergencies or other natural disasters, may be required to report for duty as assigned by the Administrator or Executive Director for the duration of the disaster. * Rotational on call Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have: * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN with a current license in Florida. * One year of full-time nursing experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care to the aged/chronically ill in a long-term care facility and one year of experience planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in the nursing field. * Ability to understand, follow and support established policies and procedures of the facility; ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately; ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments efficiently; ability to work effectively with minimum supervision; ability to adapt teaching to the situation and diversity of learners. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Leadership and teaching skills required.
