Scope of Work Become an essential civilian member of the Police Department’s Support Services Bureau In this dynamic role, you’ll provide vital assistance through a variety of police services, special assignments, and administrative tasks. Engage daily with the public, support investigations, maintain building security, and collaborate closely with officers across multiple units. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public safety behind the scenes while working in a fast‑paced, impactful environment. Essential Job Duties Interact daily with the public. Participate in a variety of law‑enforcement activities, which include preparing reports on crime and activities, and appearing in court for criminal, civil, and other law‑enforcement matters. Operate department computer equipment to document incidents and write reports. Takes reports over the phone, in person and online. Communicate with other law‑enforcement agencies in matters relating to the apprehension of offenders and the investigation of offenses. Serve as building security by monitoring security cameras and keeping a record of visitors entering the police department. Work closely with other units inside the police department, including patrol, detectives, traffic and specialized units. Perform all other duties as assigned. Physical and Environmental Conditions Works irregular hours including weekends, holidays and extended hours in emergency, disaster or other situations influenced by workload, staffing difficulties or equipment‑related repair problems. Must be able to communicate clearly under circumstances that can be highly stressful. Required Qualifications Interacts and works with citizens regarding existing and potential law enforcement and crime prevention problems and responds to requests and inquiries from the general public. Knowledge of Administrative Directives of both the City of Midland and the Police Department. Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations as needed. Knowledge of law enforcement and the criminal justice system, including investigation and identification, patrol, traffic, records management, and the care and custody of persons and property. Knowledge of the geography of the city and the surrounding vicinity. Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively. Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision. Ability to resolve a variety of situations characterized by conflict or danger. High school diploma graduate or GED equivalent. Some college preferred. Must be a resident of Midland County at the time of employment. Must possess a valid Texas Class C license. No felony convictions, history of criminal or improper conduct, or poor driving record which may affect suitability for law‑enforcement work. If prior military service, must have an honorable discharge. Bilingual preferred but not required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
