To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.Join a hard working team of engineers to develop advanced digital and mixed signal electrical circuits for high-performance spaceflight computer systems, directly impacting the future of human spaceflight. Contribute to the thoughtful design and integration phase the team is supporting for analysis and electrical hardware design, pioneering spacecraft systems. Blue Origin values collaboration, trust, and a culture of safety, and a bias for action recognizing each team member's input.ResponsibilitiesDeliver space-rated avionics sub-systems, including requirements development, design, testing, system integration, verification planning, and execution.Develop and manage high and low voltage avionics designs that integrate within a motor control scheme.Support design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.Minimum QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline5+ years of experience in electrical/avionics designExperience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selectionUnderstanding of power electronics hardware development, such as developing high-voltage switching, high voltage, and power regulationKnowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principlesFamiliarity with ADCs, DACs, op amps, power supplies (linear, LDO, DC/DC), processors, and MOSFETsKnowledge of common communication methods such as RS422, RS485, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, or CANHands-on, self-motivated, and able to work independently and in a team through development and production phasesAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of collaborationMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field7+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle avionics systemsExperience with brushless DC (BLDC) motors and controllersExperience with various motor controls, power conversion topologies, and control systemsKnowledge of radiation effects on electronics for space applicationsExperience with launch vehicle avionics systems hardware development, integration, and testElectrical design tools: LTSpice, PSpice, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, SimscapeExperience designing high-reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standardsCompensation and BenefitsCompensation ranges vary by location: CA applicants $126,898.00-$177,656.85; CO applicants $116,323.00-$162,851.85; WA applicants $126,898.00-$177,656.85. Other site ranges may differ.
