ResponsibilitiesDeliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
- Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
- Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
- Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- One or more of the following required:
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.

If you enjoy working in a collaborative & fast paced environment where you can put your critical thinking skills to use, this is the position for you This 24/7 PACU provides care for adult and pediatric patient populations with a wide variety of surgeries.
- Provide direct care for the Ortho patients in PRE-OP and POST-OP
- Support and Educate patients and families – procedure and plan of care Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions Monitor, record, and communicate with patient conditions as appropriate throughout the PACU recovery
- Excellent multi-tasking skills & communication skills
- 2 years of experience in Acute Care PACU facility, ER, or Critical Care
- Prefer Level 1 Trauma Center or Stroke Center hospital experience
- Have BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Average of 50-60 patients per day – very busy unit
- Prefer Adult and/or Pediatric PACU experience in an acute care setting
- Prefer orthopedic nursing background
- Prefer experience with all three phases of perioperative nursing
- Ortho experience is a plus, but not required
- No setting up of the Operation Room (OR)
Ascension St. Vincent is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 is hiring Full-Time, (3) 12-hour shifts per week, Monday - Friday, Day Shift - 6:30AM – 7:00PM. No scheduled weekends or holidays, but participation in on-call for weekends & holidays is required.
