Infection Preventionist

Salary: 82k-87k (commensurate with experience) Full-Time 7am- 3pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday POSITIONPURPOSE: Responsible for the overall management of all the Infection ControlProgram. Sets aside individual differences for thesake of the residents Responds appropriately to constructivecriticism or corrective action administered by supervisory personnel with SSL Responds constructively to changes and/orproblems which may arise on the job to ensure that stress is dealt witheffectively Respects the building, grounds, and equipmentof SSL and personal property of residents and visitors Adheres to the organization's Code of Conductat all times Safety& Sanitation Remains alert at all times, assuring that SSLand its residents are safe and secure at all times Actively participates in the SSL SafetyProgram by direct service on the Safety Committee, or by observing andreporting unsafe conditions to supervisor and by performing all assigned dutieswith proper body mechanics Attends In-Service sessions as required byfacility and supervisor Remains task oriented while on the job, withno allowance for horseplay or otherwise distracting oneself or others from theimportant task(s) of caring for residents PrimaryJob Duties Effectively develops infection prevention plansaccording to the current infection control protocols Directs the overall management of theinfection control program Thoroughly explains to resident, family andcare team infection prevention rationale and institutes protocols and monitorsresults of care delivered Assigns responsibility for direct residentcare to the nursing staff and ensures that the care is rendered according tothe facility's policies and procedures Ensures that the resident's care plancorrectly depict the resident's condition and ensures that the plan of care isfollowed for each resident Responsible for the provision of the infectioncontrol program to residents with updates to the clinical team Responsible for all aspects of the respiratoryprogram including, but not limited to fit testing, records management, programmonitoring Coordinates and manages vaccination clinics asrequired or needed Involves the resident, family and other healthteam members in the care plan process and informs them of the goals that needto be attained Completes required record keeping upon theresident admission, discharge, transfer, charts and documents per facilitypolicy Serves as a resource to the clinical team withregards to infection control Ensures that all documentation is legible and accuratelyreflects the condition of the residents and is completed according to policiesand procedures Communicates all pertinent changes in infectioncontrol conditions to the attending physician and others on the team as needed Instructs, guides, and takes responsibilityfor the infection control program Responds to challenges, changes, and directionwith a positive and supportive attitude Acts as a role model for others in thedepartment as someone to look to for insight if assistance is needed for thecare of the resident Continues to update knowledge and nursingskills through self-study, in-services, and professional organizations toensure optimum levels of skill Performs and coordinates theprocess of surveillance and tracking to identify any infections or adverseoutcomes to ensure resident's health and safety Serves as a resource in allinfection prevention matters Participate in the IDPH Surveyprocess as needed Demonstrates the ability to assessa situation from an infection prevention perspective and recommends appropriateaction within scope of responsibility to ensure safe and quality Care Responsibility inmanaging the antibiotic stewardship program Performs andcoordinates the process of surveillance to identify the appropriate use ofantibiotics Educates families, staff and residents on infectionprevention practices including antibiotic use Implements a structured educationprogram that meets all regulatory requirements for nursing staff Participates in resident qualitymeetings, such QAPI meetings Participates in weekend rotation Reviews and ensures all policies areup to date and in keeping with best practices in the industry Performs other duties as assigned JOBQUALIFICATIONS: RN/LPN license in good standing required CDC Infection Preventionist Certification orcompletion of certification prior to hire date Minimum of 1 year experience in infectionprevention Minimum of 1 year experience providingsupervision Minimum 1 year experience in Long Term Care Minimum of 1 year experience developing anddelivering training/in-services
