Come join our team as a(an) Nurse Extern PRN Med Surg. We care for our community Just last year, HCA Healthcare and our colleagues donated 13.The Nurse Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Extern assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the Nurse Extern's skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved.
After initial assessment may reassess and document findings. Patient care is based on the nursing process in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Participates in plan of care development and implementation base and understands the unique age specific needs.
The Nurse Extern will work to support and protect the rights of each patient served, treats each patient with dignity and care, and maintains patient confidentiality/privacy.
Demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patient fall prevention, National Patient Safety Goals, and reporting changes in condition or patient complaints to preceptor.
Provides appropriate patient/family education, per department and hospital policy and procedures.
Age Specific Care:
This position requires of care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.
High School Graduate / GED
* Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing
* This position requires students to be completed with the 1st semester of your nursing program.
