Through initiatives such as the Better Health through Housing Collaborative and the Flexible Housing Pool, CHH continues to lead innovative, multi‑agency efforts that bridge the gap between housing and healthcare across Chicago and Cook County. Position Overview The Senior Director of Finance oversees all financial operations, accounting, and reporting activities for CHH. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of CHH’s related organization, the AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC), and working closely with CHH’s Executive Director, this role plays a key part in shaping CHH’s financial strategy and supporting its long‑term sustainability. The Senior Director will lead the development of financial forecasts and models to guide organizational growth, with a particular focus on earned‑income ventures such as the Flexible Housing Pool. As a senior leader, this role will collaborate with CHH’s executive team, the CFO, and the Board of Directors to advance financial strategies that align with CHH’s mission and strategic plan. This includes leading the annual budgeting process, ensuring fiscal compliance, and fostering strong coordination and customer service across CHH and AFC. This position also provides direct supervision and mentorship to CHH finance staff, promoting professional growth, collaboration, and accountability. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Collaborate with the CFO to ensure fiscal and regulatory compliance across all financial operations. Lead the fiscal management of the Flexible Housing Pool (FHP) and other earned‑income ventures. Partner with the Executive Director, CFO, and program leadership to develop financial models, forecasts, and long‑term planning strategies. Conduct financial risk and benefit analyses for new business opportunities and due diligence requests. Direct the annual budgeting process and present the operating plan for Board approval. Serve as a liaison between CHH Finance and organizational leadership, supporting strategic planning and execution. Oversee accounting operations, month‑end close processes, and preparation of monthly financial statements and analyses. Monitor cash flow, manage treasury functions, and maintain strong banking relationships. Lead annual financial and single audits, fiscal site visits, and compliance reviews with funders and sub‑contractors. Support CHH’s Racial Equity Action Plan goals through equitable financial practices and inclusive leadership. Facilitate CHH’s Board Finance Committee meetings and support the Executive Director with board engagement. Establish and implement policies that promote collaboration, equity, and transparency across the organization. Staff Leadership and Mentorship Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff, including the Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable Associate. Support recruitment, training, and performance management processes. Establish clear expectations, encourage professional growth, and foster a culture of learning and accountability. Facilitate regular team meetings to ensure open communication, alignment, and effective coordination. Other Responsibilities Participate in agency‑wide activities such as the Annual CHH Meeting, AIDS Run & Walk, and World of Chocolate. Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education and networking. Safeguard organizational assets and maintain confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. At least six years of accounting experience and three or more years supervising finance staff. Strong expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and accounting operations. Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Preferred Qualifications CPA or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Eight or more years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in nonprofit financial management. Familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar fund accounting systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Financial analysis and modeling. Strategic planning and organizational leadership. Budget forecasting and fiscal management. Auditing and regulatory compliance. Attention to detail and strong analytical thinking. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Work Environment and Schedule This position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring approximately two days per week on‑site at AFC’s downtown Chicago office. The work environment reflects a typical office setting, involving mostly sedentary activity with occasional lifting or carrying of up to 10 pounds. Compensation and Benefits The annual salary range for this role is $109,000 to $129,000.
