Adjunct, ILR – Job Description Frederick Community College is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach non‑credit courses in the Institute for Learning in Retirement Program (ILR) within the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Department. The role involves proposing and teaching one to two courses per term, with course topics including technology, health, history, hobbies, finances, arts, and more. All courses are non‑credit and have flexible lengths, with no set curriculum. Core Responsibilities Propose and develop detailed, progressive lesson plans that engage students. Provide course descriptions and learning objectives to the Program Manager. Deliver differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs and levels. Use appropriate technology and a variety of teaching methods. Actively engage students in discussion and critical thinking. Promote open‑minded inquiry and cooperation among students. Infuse multicultural perspectives and respect individual differences. Participate in college training, professional development, and Title IX instruction. Maintain and submit required personnel and FCC policy forms. Provide instructional materials and master copies in a timely manner. Notify program staff of any absences or scheduling conflicts. Submit class evaluations and other documents as directed. Participate in the student complaint process as required. Support the mission, policies, and procedures of Frederick Community College. Required Minimum Qualifications Appropriate education level (varies by course). Previous teaching experience. Basic computer skills for classroom technology. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree. Post‑secondary teaching experience. Experience teaching students aged 55+. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
