Department: Quality Assurance TechnicianLocation: San Diego, CA (In-Person Role)Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager About the Role If you take pride in precision, organization, and keeping critical systems running flawlessly, this is your next move.As a Quality Technician– Calibration & Preventive Maintenance, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring that every instrument, gauge, and fixture we rely on performs to spec. You’ll own the calibration process from start to finish—maintaining databases, coordinating schedules, performing calibrations, and supporting compliance within our Quality System. This role is ideal for a hands‑on problem solver who loves both technical accuracy and structured process, and who’s motivated by quality that impacts real‑world performance. What You’ll Do Follow and maintain all Quality System procedures that ensure our products and services meet the highest standards. Manage and maintain equipment databases and calibration records, keeping every item accounted for and up to date. Perform routine calibration and repair of equipment and fixtures in line with approved procedures. Coordinate preventive maintenance with Operations and Facilities teams to keep systems running smoothly. Schedule and manage external calibration contractors for specialized services such as environmental monitoring, particulate testing, and certification renewals. Evaluate items for Out‑of‑Tolerance (OOT) conditions and support the non‑conformance reporting (NCR) process when issues arise. Prepare and submit quotes from external sources for calibration and maintenance services for management review. Travel: Not required What You’ll Need to Succeed: Education & Experience Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or 6–12 months of related experience/training; or a comparable mix of education and hands‑on experience. Level 5 – Intermediate technician: comfortable operating independently within established procedures. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documentation such as professional journals and procedures. Capable of writing clear reports and procedure manuals, and presenting information effectively to managers and clients. Mathematical Skills Strong working knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics. Able to apply math concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to real‑world calibration problems. Reasoning & Problem‑Solving Solid common‑sense judgment and the ability to interpret written, oral, or diagram‑based instructions. Skilled at handling standardized situations with multiple concrete variables. Preferred Certifications Design and Implementation of Environmental Monitoring (desired) Technical Skills & Tools Strong computer skills: Calibration Database systems, Microsoft Office, and general office tools (telephone, fax, copier). Experience with Digital Multimeters, Pressure Calibrators, Function Generators, and Oscilloscopes. Familiarity with fiber optics is a plus. Able to multitask, stay organized, and maintain precise calibration records in a fast‑paced environment. Physical Requirements Regularly sit, talk, and use computers or communication tools. Lift/move: up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment required. Pay Transparency Details The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. This is an hourly position with a general pay range between $23-26/hr USD. At Natus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range.
