We are seeking applicants for a Utilities Manager in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill.

The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.


Position Purpose Summary: Ensure maximum efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement of the Mill Power and Recovery operations.


Principal Accountabilities:


Responsible for maximizing the resources in the department to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operation. Requires broad decision-making abilities with respect to operational conditions, planning and directing the efficient use of staff and the expenditure of financial budgets.


Analyzes all aspects of department operations to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop strategies through methods, processes, equipment modification/purchase and staffing to accomplish department objectives.


Works with Maintenance to ensure department equipment is properly maintained through effective PM program, well planned outages, and timely response to upset conditions.


Works with Engineering and vendors on capital projects affecting department operations.


Lead the preparation of department annual budget and the administration of the approved budget.


Identifies training needs for department personnel and secures resources to provide such training.


Is responsible for properly administering the provisions of the Labor Agreement as they relate to the Power and Recovery department.


As a member of the Power and Recovery department, is responsible for knowing and following policies and procedures of the Company; for sharing information that would benefit other members of the team; and for finding ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers. Works closely with department personnel at all levels, with management in other departments and within PCA.


Requirements:

Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing. (preferably Recovery Boiler, liquor cycle and steam turbines)


Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in engineering or paper science), or equivalent experience.


Excellent communication skills.


Good computer skills


Able to work extended hours and weekends as operational conditions dictate.
