Sr Cloud Security Engineer – PayPal Join PayPal’s security team to protect and architect cloud infrastructure and applications for one of the world’s largest e‑payment networks. Job Description Summary Information Security Engineer focused on cloud infrastructure and application security. The role emphasizes large‑scale, highly dynamic GCP and AWS environments with global presence. Essential Responsibilities Apply security best practices to enhance and optimize systems, ensuring robust protection and efficiency while aligning solutions with business objectives. Partner with peers and internal teams to drive security initiatives, contribute to cross‑functional projects, and co‑lead efforts to strengthen the security posture. Analyze and resolve security challenges by adapting standard processes and exploring alternative approaches for complex threats. Influence the team’s quality, efficiency and effectiveness, potentially impacting other teams through informed decision‑making. Collaborate with engineers to gather feedback and drive continuous improvements in security processes. Expected Qualifications 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Responsibilities and Preferred Qualifications This role focuses on security in AWS and GCP cloud environments, covering infrastructure, build pipelines, application design, cloud‑native service design patterns, stakeholder communications, consulting and advisement of peer security teams, and solution review and approval. What do you need to bring At least 5 years of experience in a cybersecurity position. Experience with cloud‑native security tools and AWS/GCP infrastructure design, operation, deployment, container and host security. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, source‑code management, and security tools such as CSPM, SAST, DAST, API security, DDOS, WAF. Development experience is a plus. Preferred Certifications Cloud Security related certifications (AWS, GCP) and a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
