Associate Chief Medical Officer – University of California, Riverside Under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer and in collaboration with the Executive Director of Holistic Health Operations, the Associate Chief Medical Officer provides overall leadership for medical practice and delivery of clinical services to help UCR students resolve or manage health‑related concerns so they can attain academic and educational goals. The position leads high‑quality, cost‑effective, accessible primary care, specialty care, ancillary medical, pharmaceutical, and health education services for undergraduate and graduate students, supporting the mission of the Health, Wellbeing & Safety organization and the University of California system. Responsibilities Lead and oversee the medical service delivery and clinical operations for the Student Health Services unit. Develop and implement strategies to promote affordable, accessible, and high‑quality health care for students. Ensure compliance with internal controls, HR policies, budgeting and fiscal processes. Collaborate with academic and administrative units to align health services with campus mission. Provide leadership to medical and clinical staff, establishing goals and priorities. Required Education and Experience Board certified MD, and in possession of legal requirements for practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board. 8–13 years of related experience. Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred additional experience: 5 years of direct patient care after residency; 5 years in sports medicine; experience in women’s health (including reproductive care and pregnancy termination services); experience serving LGBTQ+ community, including hormone replacement therapy. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge essential to managing a health‑care unit and associated medical and clinical staff. Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and budget/fiscal processes. Advanced skills in medical practice and health‑service management. Strong communication, interpersonal, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Computer literacy and knowledge of electronic medical records systems. For positions involving sports medicine, maintain current knowledge of NCAA and relevant standards. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of MedAB and transgender care protocols.
