Job Summary Position: Assistant Director of Development, School of Management. Report: Director of Development. Primary responsibilities: managing a portfolio of 75–125 prospects, building relationships, soliciting major gifts ($25k+), and supporting advisory boards and volunteer committees. Goal: raise $250,000+ in year one and over $100,000 when first‑year revenue grows in subsequent years. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Manage an initial personal portfolio of 75–125 prospects; develop relationships from research to stewardship. Conduct 8–10 significant donor visits per month. Qualify 24–36 major‑gift prospects each year. Cultivate and solicit both engagement and endowment gifts. Complete a minimum of 6 solicitations targeting $250,000+ in year one. Staff advisory boards and volunteer committees: identify and recruit members, deepen relationships, and support the business school mission. Strategic Planning (15%) – In partnership with the Director, formulate a five‑year strategy to grow contributions. Secure major gifts from alumni, business community, non‑alumni, and parents. Track and implement the Young Alumni membership program. Collaborate with Corporate & Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, and Annual Fund teams. Stay current on all School of Management initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; advanced degrees preferred. 3–5 years of progressive and successful major‑gift fundraising experience. A proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and experience working with faculty, high‑net‑worth individuals, business executives, and community leaders. Strong sense of urgency, adaptability, and achievement orientation. Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills; collaborative and confident communicator. Deep knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts and practices. Strong organizational, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills; creative decision‑making and problem resolution. High emotional intelligence and teamwork ability. Familiarity with, or willingness to learn about, USF and its mission, goals, and infrastructure.
