Job Summary

To develop and implement procedures, methods, controls and monitor processes to assist the surface mount department in maintaining efficient utilization of plant facilities.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist the manufacturing engineers with tasks in the surface mount department and in other departments when needed.
  • Define, document, and refine surface mount production processes where required by contract or in-house needs.
  • Supports productions use of these processes.
  • Learn all aspects of the surface mount department.
  • Operate surface mount machines.
  • Train new operators on operation of surface mount machines, processes, and procedures.
  • Conduct time studies to ensure the most efficient processing of customer jobs.
  • Research stencil technologies and board platings to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Critique customer board designs and recommend changes to enhance manufacturability.
  • Analyze different lead frame materials used on fine pitch and regular pitch devices to analyze good solderability.
  • Test solder pastes to ensure correct type to use on board plating’s.
  • Perform maintenance on machines as required.
  • Maintain records on equipment calibration to ensure proper specifications.
  • Serve as a liaison between Virtex and its customers to ensure positive relations and implement and originate engineering changes.
  • Contributes to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures, reporting any safety concerns.
  • Actively participates in quality efforts and support the Virtex Quality Policy through accountable action.
  • Act as an authorized agent to stop production when nonconformances are noted.
  • Responsible for compliance to the Virtex Quality Management System and other regulatory and statutory requirements as required by the customer.
  • Accountable for accepting responsibility for continuous on the job training by actively participating in training put on by designated Virtex employees and/or any outside service.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or related work experience.
  • 2-5 years electronics experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working with surface mount machines preferred.


Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Due to ITAR Restrictions, US Citizenship or green card is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents such as standard operation procedures and other related documents.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot surface mount machines.
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities unsupervised.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Must have good eyesight, as well as the ability to adjust focus and differentiate between colors.
  • Flexibility to work extra hours when needed, including weekends.
